About Me - Data Constellations

Hi — I’m Toria.

I work in data, but more importantly, I think in layers.

I didn’t fall into this world by accident. I started my career in data because I wanted to understand how things worked — not just on the surface, but deep underneath. I began as a Junior BI Developer in 2021, and quickly realised that the work wasn’t just about dashboards or SQL — it was about systems. About why things connect the way they do. About what’s hidden beneath the tasks.

Since then, I’ve moved into Data Engineering, taken on increasingly complex projects, and kept building my way forward. But the one thing that’s never changed is this:

I don’t just want to do the work.

I want to understand the story the work is telling — and where it fits in the wider constellation.

I’m naturally reflective, often the one asking,

“Why are we approaching it this way?”

“What if there’s a better pattern here?”

“Are we solving the right problem, or just reacting to the noise?”

Sometimes that means I ask the questions no one’s thought of yet. Sometimes it means I slow things down to see the full picture. And sometimes it just means I see things differently — and I’ve learned to value that.

Why I started this blog

Because I wanted to share how I see the world.

Not to teach, not to preach — but to offer something to anyone else who thinks deeply, asks “why” a little too often, or feels like their brain doesn’t quite fit the mould.

Maybe something I write will help you in your own journey.

Maybe it’ll just make you feel less alone in the way you process things.

Either way — if you’re someone who sees patterns, cares about the why, and wants to make sense of systems in a human way — you’re in the right place.

Welcome to Data Constellations.

Let’s connect the stars.
